Last year the SyFy Channel foisted on the general public, and Los Angeles in particular, Sharknado, one of the worst films ever made:  Sharknado?  Got it?  Not tormado, but SHARKnado, with killer sharks falling out of the sky from a weather disturbance.  Rotten Tomatoes reviewers gave it an excellent 82% rating, but only 35% of audiences liked it.

Well, a funny thing happened.  The first showing was uneventful, but interesting...the second, better...and third, best.  Social media transformed this terrible production into camp status.

So you would think the producers would come up with a sequel and really make a killing by showing it in real theaters.  Nope, they're smarter than that.  They have actually created a new pathway towards film stardom:  social networking.  You can't use your smart phone in a theater.  At home, you can interchange comments through Facebook, Twitter and a whole assortment of other sites.  (Oh, Roker and Lauer do appear in the film.)

So tonight we get Sharknado 2:

Note the Statue of Liberty.  Clearly, sharks will fall over New York City this time, and some critics have said the effort was actually quite good.  Curiously enough, Rotten Tomatoes reviewers, though, gave it a 27% rating, but 90% of audiences loved it, just the opposite of the original.

If you live on Manhattan, the whole experience began on SyFy at 9AM your time with Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus.  Then:
  • 1100   Ghost Shark
  • 1300   Sharkmania
  • 1500   Mega Shark vs Giant Octupus
  • 1700   Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark
  • 1900   Sharknado
  • 2100   Sharknado 2
  • 2302   Sharknado 2
Note:  In Hawaii, go to channel 557, or, if you have High Definition, 1557.  Sharknado 2 starts at 6PM and again at 8:02PM.
