FATBOY'S AT THE ALA WAI GOLF COURSE

I've recently featured not so expensive restaurants in Honolulu.  Today, the cheapest of them all, Fatboy's.  Of course, this establishment can't match the four, back to back this past May, beef bowl restaurants I experienced in Tokyo during one lunchtime entitled Beef Bowl War.  The total cost there...mind you, this is Tokyo...was around $10, total.  What I am saying is that you can have a very decent meal in that expensive (now only #6 to Singapore at #1--Singapore was #18 a decade ago, so something is happening to both cities) metropolis for $2.50.

It all started with golf at Ala Wai today, where I not only had the lowest net score, 67, but beat #2 Kenji Sumida by 5 strokes.  A real advantage for being #1 is a free drink, which was a Guinness on tap.

Fatboy's is a quantum leap in cuisine quality and service at the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse.  It is so relatively new that the Fatboy's web page shows 6 of them, but not the one here.

We ordered prime rib bentos:

These came with a  good salad.  The whole bill with tip and beer was less than $50 for the four of us.  I can highly recommend Fatboy's at the Ala Wai GC.  In particular, Jessie was fabulous:

On the way out, you can't miss Diamond Head:

On my way home, on the grounds of Thomas Square, a Gold Tree, with my old (originally in 1972) Coronet penthouse in the background:

This is a time of year when all the shower trees are also in bloom.  A beautiful month in Honolulu.  Just another day in the life of a retiree in Paradise.

I'M GOLFING TODAY AT ALA WAI AND WILL AGAIN DINE AT FATBOY'S.  IF ANYTHING IS WORTHY, LIKE BETTER PHOTOS, I'LL LATER ADD THEM.

Tomorrow, probably, the FINAL TRANSITION.

Typhoon Rammasun is now at 110 miles/hour, could well strengthen into a Categsory 4, and will roll over Northern Hainan, and make landfall in Vietnam well north of Hanoi.

At least 38 were killed in the Philippines.
