THE REGENSBURG CHRISTMAS MARKET

Well, finally went to a Christmas Market yesterday.  We thought that this Viking cruise was a Christmas Market Cruise.  Not so, apparently, as the cruise director recently announced that this was a European River Cruise during the Christmas season.  The real Christmas Cruises just began.  Tricky advertising.

Anyway, we have five days left, and all of these stops will have a Christmas Market.  But Regensburg also had one, so here are those photos.  Actually, if you've been to one of them, future ones will not be much different.

Regensburg:

  • At the Danube River's northernmost point.
  • 150,000 inhabitants.
  • Has 28,000 immigrants.
  • Medieval center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, kept intact during World War II.
  • St Peter's (or Regensburger Dom) Cathedral is the city's landmark, built around 700 AD.

We start with lunch on a day I did nothing.

Fish and Chips.
Plus pork.
Dinner was prime rib steak and Caesar Salad, so no sense showing them again.  Only walked 643 steps today.
Our schedule.
We're off on a walking tour of Regensburg.  Very cold at 30 F.
St Peter's Cathedral, adjacent to the market.
So this is the Christmas Market.
Greeted by a horde of Blue-Bar Pigeons.

A merry-go-round.

End of ride.
Crepes.
Saw a market.
Ahi bowl and kim chee.
Returned to our ship.
Walked 5667 steps today.
Today is Saturday in Passau.

Lunch.

Next stop, Melk, Vienna.
