Today, I will compare the three primary cities of TTT2019: Tribulations and Transcendence of Travel 2019:
- According to this survey, Tokyo is 130% more expensive than Bangkok:
- food + 86%
- housing + 169%
- transport + 172%
- personal + 124%
- entertainment + 130%
- likewise, Tokyo is "only" 49% more expensive than Seoul
- to close this loop, Seoul is 55% more expensive than Bangkok
- HOWEVER, New York City is 16% more expensive than Tokyo
- Interestingly enough, the cost of living is the same in Honolulu and Tokyo
Comparing population (from 10 to almost 30 times the size of Hawaii):
- Tokyo 13.9 million (metro: 38.1 million)
- Seoul 9.8 million (metro: 25.6 million)
- Bangkok 8.3 million (metro: 14.6 million)
All three cities are "safe." I can't say that for Paris, nor New York City. Honolulu? Somewhere in between. However, there is a World's Safest Cities Ranking, here for 2018:
