TTT2019: Day 32--Bangkok/Seoul/Tokyo

I noticed something yesterday that astounded me.  I suddenly shot pass 2 million viewers.  For reasons I can't explain, the past two days attracted 13,000 and 19,000 viewers.  If you divide 2,000,0000 by eleven years, this blog site has averaged around 500 viewers/day.

Planet Earth and Humanity began on 29 April 2008.  Thus, on 29 April 2019, less than a week from now, I will begin my 12th year.  However, the second blog appeared on 4May2008, and this site has just about been a daily feature since then.  The first big jump in viewership occurred on 18 August 2008 with a posting on CAN THE BLUE REVOLUTION PREVENT THE FORMATION OF HURRICANES.

Today, I will compare the three primary cities of TTT2019:  Tribulations and Transcendence of Travel 2019:
Comparing population (from 10 to almost 30 times the size of Hawaii):
  • Tokyo    13.9 million (metro:  38.1 million)
  • Seoul       9.8 million (metro:  25.6 million)
  • Bangkok  8.3 million (metro:  14.6 million)
All three cities are "safe."  I can't say that for Paris, nor New York City.  Honolulu?  Somewhere in between.  However, there is a World's Safest Cities Ranking, here for 2018:
  • #1     Abu Dhabi
  • #2     Doha, Qatar

Wow, I kept adding cities because I'm surprised where some ranked.  Find yours?  Ironic that the safest cities are in the Middle East, and even Tehran and Baghdad are in the range of Las Vegas and DC.

Conde Nast has these cities as the best:
  • #1    Tokyo
  • #2    Kyoto
  • #3    Melbourne
  • #4    Vienna
  • #5    Hamburg
  • #6    Sydney
  • #7    Singapore

  • #9    Barcelona
  • #10  Vancouver
  • #12  Osaka
  • #16  Seoul
Been to five of the above this year.

CNN Travel lists 50 Reasons Why Tokyo is the Best City in the World.  #1 is the rail system, and we board the bullet train for Hokkaido tomorrow.  #50 is the Yakatabune, sort of a food and karaoke bar on a river boat.  You haven't lived until you've been on one of these with a lot of friends.
