The Pride of American is now moored about a mile off Kailua-Kona, as there are no port facilities here.  A tender takes you to shore:
Today, the Kona Golf Club, advertised as the finest in Kona...but that is because these 36 holes are the only ones in Kailua-Kona.  Our group of Kerry (Pittsburg), Scott (San Diego), Cory (McKim, the ship's golf pro, who has spent nearly two years now on the Pride of America and has the awesome responsibility of setting things up and golfing with the various groups--what a life!) and Scott (Pittsburg):

Tomorrow, on to Kauai for golf at Puakea, the newest course on the island and next to where Jurassic Park was filmed, and the Jack Nicklaus Kiele 18.

Another rough day on Wall Street, as the Dow Jones Industrials crashed 520 (-4.6%, now 7.4% down for the year)  to 10,720, while world markets also sunk, France and Germany falling by more than 5%.  Only 721 to go before I can buy again.  Gold zoomed up to another all time high, plus $55/toz to $1807.  Scott (San Diego) indicated that if you buy gold, make sure you get the real bar, as most of this speculation is in paper and you might end up with nothing if the worse happened.  Oil actually inched up, the NYMEX at $83/barrel and the Brent Spot at $106/barrel

But consider the upsides of life:  no economic depression, no Cold War, no major ocean storms, no gasoline lines and great weather in Hawaii.  The Atlantic Ocean, though, is getting warmer, and there are two new tropical depressions off Africa:
