DAY 13: 20th fissure

6:30 a.m.

Geologists with the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory have confirmed that a new fissure — the 20th — has opened in the Lanipuna Gardens subdivision northeast from fissure 19.

Scroll to yesterday's posting to see what northeast (up but right) means, remaining close to the Puna Geothermal Ventures power plant (to the bottom right of this photo to the left, which was taken BEFORE #'s 16 to 20 opened).  Click on that map to read where #19 is located.  When a new map is released, I'll add it here.  Tina Neal is scientist in charge.
