DAY 12: Kilauea Eruption in Puna

There is now a 19th fissure, this one the closest to the Puna Geothermal Venture facility:

The lava is changing in chemical composition, with a seeming trend toward less viscosity, meaning that the flows could increase.  The 1955 Kapoho eruption had 24 fissures and covered nearly 4000 acres.  So far, the current flows have only spread over 117 acres.  However, no human nor pet injuries and fatalities, yet.  Many thousands still live in those red, purple and gray areas.
