On opposing pages this morning in the Star-Advertiser were Donald Trump pledging his allegiance to the Republican Party and Chris, the long-lost Australian sheep. I thought that would make a fine snarky Friday posting, comparing the hairdo of both:
Chris' 89 pounds of wool, also about his actual weight, is certainly a world record, for the average from one sheep in the U.S. is 7.3 pounds. If I'm reading this right, a pound of just sheared wool costs around $35, so Chris' must be worth about $300. Anyway, this wool can make 30 sweaters, which, then, increase the ultimate value.
However, after getting this far, I thought I would rescue the dignity of this blog site by citing current bookmaker's odds of our presidential candidates:
- Democratic nomination:
Odds as of August 25 at Bovada
- Hilary Clinton -700
- Bernie Sanders +600
- Joe Biden +800
- Martin O'Malley +3300
- Elizabeth Warren +3300
- Jim Webb +5000
- Lincoln Chafee +10000
- Republican nomination:
- Jeb Bush +150
- Donald Trump +300
- Scott Walker +600
- Marco Rubio +600
- Ben Carson +900
- John Kasich +1000
- Chris Christie +1500
- Ted Cruz +1500
- Rand Paul +2500
2016 US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
- Odds as of August 25 at Bovada
- Hillary Clinton +110
- Jeb Bush +375
- Donald Trump +700
- Marco Rubio +1400
- Scott Walker +1400
- Bernie Sanders +1400
- Joe Biden +1800
- John Kasich +2500
- Ted Cruz +3300
- Ben Carson +3300
- Chris Christie +5000
- Carly Fiorina +5000
- Elizabeth Warren +6600
- Rand Paul +10000
- Jim Webb +10000
- Martin O'Malley +10000
- Rick Perry +15000
- Bobby Jindal +15000
- Rick Santorum +15000
Here are what these numbers mean:
- Say you are betting on the New York Jets (-500) against the New England Patriots (+350).
- The minus sign means that team is favored.
- Thus if you bet $500 on the Jets, you will win back your $500, plus $100, or $600 total.
- The plus sign means this team is supposed to lose
- Thus, if you bet $350, you will get back your $350, plus $100, or $450 total.
- Say the Jets were even and Patriots +150: betting $100 on the Jets would get you back a total of $200...bet $350, and you will return $700.
So, as far as who will be our next president, if you bet $100 on:
- Hillary Clinton: you will win $210
- Jeb Bush: $475
- Donald Trump: $800
- Bernie Sanders: $1500
- Joe Biden: $1900
- Chris Christie: $5100
- Rick Santorum: $15100
In other words, ignore those e-mail issues, the rise of Sanders, those upcoming interminable presidential debates and Trump running as a third party candidate. Hillary Clinton, as of August 25, is the overwhelming favorite to become the next POTUS (President Of The United States).

Hurricane Jimena is weakening and projected to move north:
However, computer models show Jimena hooking left and leaning towards Kauai:
There is a very new disturbance, 98E, off Mexico, and this storm is expected to move in the direction of Hawaii.
