We stopped by J-Shop and bought a little more than a pound of wagyu, which carries a ten-digit individual ID code. They have these large chunks and cut the pieces to order.
I thought this store sold wagyu from Shizuoka, but this sign says Nagasaki. We also got red snapper and hamachi (flounder) sashimi, plus a container of ikura (salmon eggs) and myoga (Japanese ginger).
Here is that rib eye wagyu package. Price? $97/pound.

I was once chairman of the 15 Craigside Dining Committee. When I resigned from that role, it was a life-changing moment, for I decided that I would no longer be in charge of anything and just enjoy the rest of my life.
This led to the best meal I had here. Earlier this summer, after a round of golf together, my next door neighbor, John, and I, BBQ'd a pound of Japanese Wagyu Beef on the outside grill, brought the steak in to the Dining Room, and combined it with what was on the buffet. Oh, we also had O-toro (fatty blue-fin tuna at $58/pound) sashimi, some Kirin beer and a bottle of $99 sake. Neglected to take photos, but here is that sake.
We decided to do this again last Friday, but Hurricane Lane forced us to delay this feast to yesterday. While we were playing terribly at the Ala Wai Golf Course, that was mostly because we were salivating over the coming dinner. John got a call from his wife Deanne that she now had to go to a wedding reception at the Waialae Country Club, so she missed the best meal of her life.

Back home, our 15C grill, unfortunately, had run out of propane. Luckily, Leilyn and her crew found another cylinder. John grilling our wagyu:
The pan held teriyaki mushrooms and scallops. Absolutely fabulous.

The beer was Kirin and wine, Hayward Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. It's just possible that his dinner might well have equalled our first experience with Japanese wagyu at 15 Craigside. Next, our 12th floor neighbor cuisine society is contemplating a return to La Mer this coming Friday.

There are five ocean storms:
The only catastrophic one today is Super Typhoon Jebi at 155 MPH and heading for Japan:
The good news: Jebi will weaken before crashing into the main island of Honshu late Tuesday or early Wednesday. However, it is possible that the storm could still be at 100 MPH or more.
The three heading for Hawaii include Hurricane Miriam at 75 MPH, but heading north of the islands. Hurricane Norman is at 100 MPH, but should weaken and most probably have a track just north of the state. But right behind Norman is 17-E, showing some potential potency and directional danger.
