DONALD TRUMP: You're Fired!

Summary:  Let's see what happens tomorrow, but if this is a trend, great.

We all know that these political conventions are about preaching to the choir, so if nothing goes terribly wrong, that should be good enough.  No one of any particular importance will appear in the Republican National Convention, so Donald Trump will be there every day.  I say day because this show has already started in North Carolina, and at this very moment I type this, He is speaking.

Donald Trump had a very successful TV show, The Apprentice.  Ran for 15 seasons.  He fired every contestant but 15.  He continued this streak while President, for 415 of his staff have been dismissed or effectively resigned during this reign.  If there was one thing I learned as a long-time academic administrator, the people who you fire have a way of coming back to hurt you.  I survived, but that's because I remember only firing one person, and, while it became an irritant, it's easier to overcome just an individual.  Donald Trump is in real trouble because of these firings, as we have seen.

No doubt he will fire a few more during the RNC.  Biden and Harris for sure.  Maybe he'll just salute them.  Nah, add the Obamas to the boot list. Pelosi and Schumer, of course.  Maybe even a couple of Republicans, but he has to be careful here for he is on the edge of losing too many already.  China and WHO should be prominent.  This novel coronavirus for sure.  I can go on, but you get the point.

Uncle Donald in his own way fired his niece Mary. Boy did she get him back with her book (read five shocking passages), and coming along are a few audio tapes.  The first one released recorded his sister Maryanne, who is a retired federal judge.  There will be others.  By the way, Mary also has copies of her uncle's tax records.  You think these might possibly become public before November 3?

You'll notice that Donald has another older sister, Elizabeth Trump-Grau.  She is even more obscure, and, with her husband James, owns a home at Mar-a-Lago, as does Maryanne.  Also, niece Mary has a brother, Fred Trump III, who has said that his sister is the dysfunctional member of the whole family.  So in summary, the siblings, Robert (the one who recently passed away), Elizabeth, Frederick Jr. (Mary's father), Donald and Maryanne (who was caught in that audio tape saying those things about The Donald).

Who else is on that forced resignation/dismissal list? Well, here are some choice statements about our PUS (President of the U.S.) from a few who caught the wrath of The Donald.  To start, The Washington Post, on 20 January 2020, said the PUS had made, by that date, 16,200 false or misleading claims.  They have a Fact Checker's database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement he had entered.  On July 9, it was up to 20,055.

Then again, Trump and Jeff Bezos, who owns TWP, have had a well-publicized feud.  Here is an expose' about part of this history that has now gained traction because of Trump's USPS role in limiting votes.  And, by the way, note that the United States Postal Service is a service, not a profit-making arm of the Federal government.  Like the military service and interstate highways, the Post Office is there to serve the people, not make money.

Then there are those military generals.  Here are just three of them:

I would've argued against it, recommended against it," Kelly said of Trump's photo-op. "I would argue that the end result of that was predictable."

I think we need to look harder at who we elect. I think we should look at people that are running for office and put them through the filter: What is their character like? What are their ethics?

It sickened me yesterday to see security personnel—including members of the National Guard—forcibly and violently clear a path through Lafayette Square to accommodate the president's visit outside St. John's Church. I have to date been reticent to speak out on issues surrounding President Trump's leadership, but we are at an inflection point, and the events of the past few weeks have made it impossible to remain silent. Whatever Trump's goal in conducting his visit, he laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces. There was little good in the stunt.

• Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson:  Moron...or was it a F***ng Moron?
• A whole host of entertainers (and we should have listened, for these statements were made before Trump got elected president) who were intellectually fired:
• Matt Damon:  was extremely worried during the election, according to Cosmopolitan. “[Trump] makes me nervous. … There’s no way we can let this guy be the [president]. To let that dude have the nuclear football, are you kidding me? That’s dangerous. He’s impulsive and rash, and doesn’t seem to think deeply about too many things,” said Damon. ” Damon also granted a Spanish news agency an interview, during which he referred to Trumps’ speech as “xenophobic,” “dehumanizing,” and “disgusting.”

• JK Rowling:  Voldemort was nowhere near as bad.
• Amy Shumer:  called him an “orange, sexual assaulting, fake-college-starting monster.” Later, Schumer asked the audience, “You know what I love? A famous guy that will just take me furniture shopping and just straight up grab my pu**y.”

• Jennifer Lawrence:  If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world.
• Amanda Seyfried:   Why are we still watching a delusional, racist man-child run for dictator?
• Robert De Niro:  He’s so blatantly stupid. He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a pig, he’s a con — a bulls**t artist. A mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care, thinks he’s gaming society, doesn’t pay his taxes. He’s an idiot.

• Have you been watching those late night TV hosts opening their programs with Donald Trump and his foibles?   While he didn't get close to actually firing them, just the inane actions caught their attention.  Initially, Jimmy Kimmel was great, then he took a summer holiday.  Stephen Colbert, however, is a good substitute.  Then there is Jimmy Fallon.  Others.
• Former President George W. Bush did not say anything, but still got condemned by Trump.  Wonder if Bush the Younger will in any way participate in the Republican Convention?  He is the only remaining Republican president.  So who's coming?  Not Dick Cheney nor his daughter Rep. Liz.  Colin Powell?  No, he spoke for the Democrats.  Well Melania is scheduled tomorrow night.  At one time Mitch McConnell was faltering, for he is having some competition for re-election.  But he relented and will send in something.

• Here is a quote I inserted at the end of What Would Jesus say about Donald Trump a year ago:

So what would Jesus say about Donald Trump?  Well, maybe Donald Trump is the Second Coming of Jesus.  Incredibly enough, there are two billboards, one in St. Louis and another outside of Waco, suggesting so.  So that question provides an obvious answer.  Just ask Donald Trump.

• The Bible itself, apparently has more than a hundred direct references to Donald Trump.  Not kidding, just click on that.  Amazing how they all accurately reflect our glorious leader.  Here is just a short one, Proverbs 16.5:

Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.

• Reacting to Trump's insults, North Korean leader Kim Jung-un has muttered a wide number of invectives, but the best one is, simply, DOTARD.
• As you know, just last week Michelle and Barack Obama spent whole speeches on the Donald.  You can hold it back only so long.
• From Digg, 2 min 30 seconds of the most creative insults hurled at Trump.

Well, that was so one-sided that I thought I'd conclude by giving him some equal time.  Here is a whole book by someone named John Ford:  Truly Totally Trump:  A Collection of Put-Downs, Insults and Unforgettable Utterances from a President Who Tells It Like It Is.

Shifting gears into something more pleasant, how lucky can you be to be this young boy stuck at home with his father, a special effects guy.  Here is what they produced.

The good news in the Gulf is that Marco is fizzling and will only bring some rain and winds along the Louisiana/Texas Gulf Coast, but is already sending considerable moisture to Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.  And he is a small cyclonic storm.

Right on his heels is Laura, who almost surely will become a hurricane, maybe even a Category 2, while making landfall in the same general area.
