TTT2019: Day 27: Shopping in Seoul

Mystery Lady went back to Hawaii during my Thailand visit, but returned to Seoul.  We had a great Fresh (name of restaurant) breakfast at the Sheraton D-Cube Hotel:

Down the elevator to Subway Line #1 (I like this hotel because the #2 Line also stops here), where we were greeted by my Blue-Bar Pigeon;

Note those doors that open and close to protect you from the train.  Well, it was only two stops away to the Gassan Digital Complex Station, but at the first stop, Guro Station, everyone got off the train.  We didn't know what to do, but, as we finally decided to also get off, the train doors closed.  Heck the next stop could have been to the DMZ, or worse, so I pressed the alarm button.  No alarm sound, but down the way a few trains over, we saw a staff member walking towards us.  We told him what happened, he shook his head, but smiled, and  spread open the train door, then, using the same technique, the entrance doors, and let us out, telling us to go to the adjacent track, where the next train would take us to where we wanted to go.  While a bit of a scare, I learned one thing:  in an emergency, just stick your fingers into the rubber portion and spread open the doors.

Through escalators, mostly, it was a very short walk to the Lotte Outlet:

The three buildings of the Mario Outlet are also next to Lotte, so this is where my victory was accomplished in South Korea:  I bought five golf shirts.  These are really comfortable and, after washing, dry in half an hour:

Each shirt cost around $25.  We then had a pork cutlet lunch in one of the Mario buildings:

On the way out I noticed something unusual.  There are millions of forsythia bushes now in bloom along the side of roads, rivers, etc.  Here they actually exhibited  one:

Next stop, Cheonggyecheon Stream, a 7-mile walk, which was opened in 2005.  Here, before and after photos:

We took one look and chose shopping.  Dongdaemun Market:

One must item was a waistband elastic, for the one holding my pants on were just about ready to break, and I was afraid to make it too tight for fear that it would do that.  Of all the good luck, just as we got up to street level from the subway, at a street stand, someone was selling exactly what I needed.  Here is the fixed jogging pants later that day:

All through the Lotte and Mario stores I looked for a golf hat or two, but they were all not so comfortable and cost from $25 to $50...for one hat.  Another stunner, for a few yards away from the waist band surprise was a shop selling hats, and I bought six for a total of $30:

Each hat was better than anything I saw at those outlets.  But the biggest bargain of all were two comfortable shorts:

They cost $2.50 each.  They are very, very comfortable, and no doubt will be admired when I wear them at 15 Craigside dinners.

We then stopped by Seoul Station to purchase our roundtrip KTX (bullet train) tickets to Busan tomorrow.

The day ended with a light dinner at the Executive Club:
