SINGAPORE with The Donald, The Rocket Man and Dennis

Day 37 of the Lower Puna Eruption, and Mayor Harry Kim said that more than 600 homes have now been overrun by lava.   Watching TV this morning, there was another 5+ moment magnitude earthquake emanating from Halemaumau Crater.  There is now a papaya shortage, and it's possible that recovery could take three years.  However, anticipating this potential situation, I am growing my own tree:

A few photos, before and after from The New York Times, and USA Today.

I've been to Singapore a dozen times and am not particularly surprised that this country was selected for the Trump-Kim summit, to be held on June 12, but be aware that 9AM Singapore time on Tuesday is 9PM Monday night in New York City.
  • Singapore is ruthlessly efficient.
  • One of few countries having diplomatic relations with both the USA and North Korea.
  • Hosted the 2015 summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou.
  • Has strict laws limiting public demonstrations.
  • The session will be held at the Capella Hotel on an island, Sentosa, which can conveniently be secured.
  • Trump will be headquartered in the Shangri-la, while Kim most probably at the St. Regis.  I've stayed at both hotels.
However, their splashy hotel is the Marina Bay Sands.  Read my posting from seven years ago.

Dennis Rodman will be there.  President Trump said he didn't invite Rodman.

Kind of reminds me of The Interview, that Sony film on the assassination of the North Korea Leader.  What an opportunity for one to be creative about what will actually happen.

I still would like Kim to upstage Trump to intercept the Nobel Prize, and I have suggested how this could occur.  However, I suspect the following outcomes can be anticipated:
  • No, I don't think they will kiss each other.  Those two are Howard X and Dennis Alan, impersonators who are now in Singapore.
  • The meeting will go well.
  • Trump will replace Rodman as Kim's closest American friend.
  • An announcement will be made that a peace treaty will be signed between South and North Korean governments to officially end the Korean War.
  • North Korea will meet with Japan to discuss the kidnapped Japanese issue.
  • North Korea will accept de-nuclearization, but the details will need to be worked out over time.
  • The USA will promise to protect North Korea and organize a foreign aid program involving the U.S., China, South Korea and Japan.
Hurricane Aletta in the East Pacific is now at 100 MPH.  However, there will soon be a weakening:
