WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ABBA?

I just happened to view the 1977 film, ABBA: the Movie, and wondered what happened to them.  In case you didn't know, ABBA (second B should be a mirror image) comes from the name of a Swedish fish canning company, Abba, and they had to pay the company off for doing so.  I guess it was later that they realized that if they acronymed the first letter of their names, they might have avoided this payment, for while Agnetha Faitskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Frida Lyngstad (she was Norwegian while the other three were Swedish) added up to ABBF, Frida's real name was Anni-Frid.  Lyngstad was married to Andersson, while Faitskog and Ulvaeus were the other married couple.  The marriages eventually dissolved and they are now, amazingly, over the age of retirement (photo on left).

They first formed a group forty years ago, and looked like the photo on the right.  Their string of hits, many written by them, included:

They sold 375 million "records," was the first non-English group to attain world-wide fame, and was voted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2010.  Ulvaeus and Andersson, with Tim Rice, in 1984 wrote One Night in Bangkok, which was banned in Thailand.

Three films were based on their songs:

  1.  Muriel's Wedding,
  2.  The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
and, of course
  3. Mama Mia.

Their final performance was almost thirty years ago.  You can go to ABBA:  the Museum, in Stockholm, while AbbaWorld, the exhibit, is touring the world.   In 2000 a billion dollar offer for 100 concerts was made, which they declined.  Yet, will they return?  Got to be soon as they are in their mid-sixties.
