With occasional forays into movies and food, this blog site primarily deals with solutions for our energy, environment, doomsday, political, economic and societal problems. So, to continue this change of pace to make life more enjoyable for you, I will expand on the story of Jackie Evancho, partially because in a certain pose, at least in my mind, Pearl sort of looked like Jackie.
I was on the computer just completing work on my seven fantasy baseball teams last night when, in the background, I heard this beautiful voice emanating from America's Got Talent. The program tried something different this year. For this one week, they orchestrated a vote of You Tube entrants. This final entertainer won and gained a spot as a finalist.
The performance of Jackie Evancho was stunning, on the order of Buster Mathis knocking out Mike Tyson or Chaminade upsetting Virginia or the assassination of John Kennedy or Susan Boyle on Britain's Got Talent, with both Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan as judges, no less. Yes, you can click on all of them to re-live history. Keep in mind that Boyle came in second. All predictions are that Evancho will win.
She comes from a typical Pittsburgh family with three siblings. Here she sings You Are My Sunshine with older brother Jacob. Jackie already has a CD, Prelude to a Dream. Amazing, though, how viral stardom can come overnight.

The Dow Jones Industrials sunk 265 to 10,379, as did the rest of the world, with the Japan Nikkei down 258 to 9293. China has increased buying into Japanese debt, which has a debt/GDP ratio double that of the U.S. China does feel more comfortable with Japan's economy, but this can't be the reason for this market turndown. Gold fell $6/toz to $1199 and crude oil dropped below $80/barrel, now at $78.

Looks like Tropical Depression Dianmu will roll right over Akita and into the Pacific. No name yet, but that tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico is just about over the oil spill site while the other Atlantic disturbance is harmlessly moving north. There are two weak weather spots in the East Pacific.
