The very best restaurant in San Francisco might well be Gary Danko, in the vicinity of Fisherman's Wharf. Featured is a tasting men, a fusion of American, French and Mediterranean cuisine. Prices were reasonable. Service was fabulous.
I had a combination of seared foie gras, horseradish crusted salmon and lemon pepper duck breast. The FG was fantastic, salmon too vinegary and duck lacking in character and definitely mediocre. I started with a Kir Royale, followed by a Cain Concept, essentially a California bourdeaux. We also shared artisinal cheese, in my case with a Lagavulan and expresso. The discussion was stimulating and maybe even provocative. Below, Leighton Chong, Milton (CTO in e-Commerce) and Jayne (dramaturg) Diaz Perez and...me.
