DAY 10: Tigers, Butterflies, a Giant Centipede and Orchids

The executive lounge arranged a driver on a 80-minute drive up north and back for around $30.  The three tourist stops we made were an additional $30/person.

First, Tiger Kingdom.  More specifically, this was TIGER ENCOUNTER.  Not on my bucket list, but high on that of my traveling partner.  You don't see her because she was eaten by a tiger.  Not really, but here I am in a mild state of trepidation below:

India has 60% of all tigers, while Thailand has 5%.  Next, butterflies:

Ah....the two feet long centipede!  Well, it might have been one foot.  Then again, perhaps 8 inches, or less:

Something more peaceful:

Orchids:

Back to the Le Meridien, a long bath with glass of Ballantine's Scotch on rocks, and on to the executive lounge for a champagne.

Wow, looks like a flying saucer!  That's how this setting sun photo got distorted just before disappearance.

Then on to the night market, where ladyboy photos could be taken for a fee, so just walked by.

This morning,a light breakfast, for just across the street of my hotel are McDonald's, Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken for a possible lunch.

Walked through an empty town to Burger King and got a Big Mac with fries, plus a bottle of Singha Thai Beer at 7/11.  Added a glass of red wine:

Took a nap, then went to the executive lounge, where I first took a photo of the very accommodating staff:

Tomorrow, back to Bangkok, to, this time the venerable Grand Sheraton Sumkhmvit.
