WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP PREVENT THE PREDICTED COMING DOOM

For nearly a year now, a group of colleagues, mostly from Hawaii, but also throughout the nation and world, has been exchanging thoughts on how Peak Oil and Global Warming might affect the economy and our lifestyles. An update was presented in my recent Huffington Post article.

There is a core (10-20%) not only concerned that the worst might happen, but is already taking precautions by planning for survival. No one is absolutely of the opinion that this recession is merely just another economic downturn. There is an uncertainty factor that is worrisome, and some of the bad case scenarios seem to be looming out there. I might well be the resident optimist in this melange of attitudes.

Cyclone Hamish was a Category 5 storm, but is weakening and appears now not to be a serious threat to Queensland (Australia). The coastal islands, however, remain in danger.

Chris Martenson has produced a widely viewed UTube series on this subject. His final chapter seems to well summarize our economy, energy and environment discussion. While predictive of bad case scenarios to be expected, he is not doomsdayish and suggests a prescriptive pathway. Chapter 17 specifically covers these three E's.
