MORE SINGAPOREANS/CAPITA VISIT THIS BLOG SITE THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY

For those in Singapore, Merry Christmas.  People in Honolulu, as I write this, it is still Christmas Eve.  Tomorrow, I'll post on celebrating the Eve and Christmas Day in Singapore.

Today, a topic I've long wanted to feature.  My first posting was on 29April2008, more than 17 years ago.  At this moment, there have been 4,316,178  visitors to the original site, from 211 domains.  There are 193 countries in the United Nations, so domains include some island communities and places like Antarctica.

This leaves only the following locations lacking.  If you know of anyone from them, please do me a favor and ask them to come.

It's difficult to get a true reading of how many actually visit this daily blog because there are two versions, the second which I began many years ago for technical reasons.  I initially paid Google a service charge for tallying this number.  About a decade ago, I quit paying them, but the total number kept accruing anyway, and this is why I count more than 4 million visitors.  The lower number from the 221 flags collected source in the right column only shows half this number of pings.

When I click on it, graphics show that 48.4% of visitors are from the U.S.

• However, #2 is Singapore, with 15.3%.
  
• The population of the U.S. is around 341 million, while that of Singapore is 6.1 million.
• Say I divide 6.1 into 15.3, I get a figure of 2.5 for Singapore.
• For the USA, 0.14
• Dividing appropriately, this shows that nearly 18 times more people from Singapore/capita read my blog than the U.S.
• How can this be explained?
• I don't know.
• Among the possible answers include.
• There is someone, or more, from Singapore with a network.  When this individual (or more) sees a worthy posting, that person informs the network.  This explains why on some days I get only 500 visitors, and why this number might go up to 5000/day, like when I travel.  
• There was one day a few years ago with 27,000 visitors.  I was in South Korea and wrote about BTS, that K-pop boy band. This South Korean networker must have been a BTS fan.
• If anyone from Singapore has a clue why so many read my blog, please let me know.

Clearly, Singapore is a very special place.  I asked Google AI how does Singapore rate among world leaders.

Social & Quality of Life Rankings

• Education: Ranked #1 globally for math and science skills according to the latest PISA benchmarks.  (Note the total absence of the USA!)
• Human Development: Ranked #9 in the 2024 UN Human Development Index (HDI) and #13 in 2025.

• 
  Happiness: Dropped to 34th globally in the 2025 World Happiness Report, losing its spot as the happiest country in Asia to Taiwan.  I asked Google AI why Singaporeans are not so happy?

Singaporeans often report lower happiness due to 

intense materialism, hyper-competition (kiasu culture), poor work-life balance (long hours, high stress), high cost of living (especially housing/transport), societal pressure to succeed (education/jobs), and weaker community bonds despite wealth, leading to a focus on "keeping up" and less genuine satisfaction, say sources.

Healthcare: Ranked 13th in the World Index of Healthcare Innovation (late 2024), though it faces rising costs and fiscal sustainability challenges.

• Safety: Ranked as the 6th most peaceful nation globally in the 2025 Global Peace Index. 

Facts even Singaporeans don't know about Singapore.

• Singapore is not just one island, but 63.
• They are the world's fastest walkers.
• Since 1905, has changed time zones 6 times.
• Can vote in British elections.  There are 56 nations in the British Commonwealth, so how to actually vote can get confusing
