DONALD TRUMP versus GLOBAL WARMING

From the New Yorker:
Yesterday I started with Greenland.  Today again, for twenty-eight Greenland glaciers are melting...and fast.  The other day, it was reported that villagers in Kulusuk heard an explosion.  Turned out this was "just" a portion of a glacier breaking off more than five miles away.  One worst case scenario has Greenland alone responsible for a sea level of 3 feet to 4 feet by 2100.  The more educated guess is "only" one foot.  Global warming?  Absolutely.

Alaska last month suffered through its warmest month, EVER!  Anchorage saw 90 F for the first time, ever.  Arctic ice last month also retreated to its lowest level, ever.  Compared to last July, the area dropped by 39,000 square miles, about the size of South Carolilna.  Global warming?  What else?

Water is so short in Chennai (once, known as Madras), India, that this precious liquid now has to be brought in by train, ten million liters/day.  Global warming?  Well, you can blame the unpredictable monsoon, too many people and absence of a major river.

Except that Bloomberg reports nearly 1.8 billion people in 17 countries, or a fourth of the world population, are veering towards a water shortage.  As I reported when I was there, water in Qatar is more than twice as expensive as gasoline.  But they can afford this because of their oil/natural gas resources.  India alone has 1.4 billion now at risk.

Mexico last month experienced a 3-foot hail storm.  No, the hail was not three feet in diameter, but did pile up to a height of 3 feet in Guadalajara and other locations.  Global warming?  No mention was made, but anomalies such as this have been predicted.

Chris Westbrook, a meteorologist at the University of Reading in Britain, said the hail was a result of warm, moist air rising into the atmosphere and rapidly cooling to form heavy balls of ice before plunging back to earth. And mountainous regions like Guadalajara are ripe for this phenomenon.

Cynthia Rosenweig of NASA co-authored a United Nations report that human-caused climate change just in land use is making things worse.  Further, climate change has caused deserts to grow, permafrost to thaw and forests more vulnerable to drought and fires.

CLIMATE CHANGE IS THE GREATEST THREAT TO HUMAN HEALTH IN  HISTORY.  That, a headline of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change published last year.

Earlier this year the leader of the Free World and confirmed twit, Donald Trump, tweeted:

In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!

In case you did not know, some synonyms of TWIT are:  fool, idiot, ass, halfwit, nincompoop, blockhead, buffoon, dunce, dolt, ignoramus, cretin, imbecile, dullard, moron, simpleton, clod...

- From Accuweather, Tropical Storm Chantal has formed in the Atlantic, but his heading away from the USA:

In  the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Storm Ivo, the ninth named storm, is at 60 MPH, and could strengthen into a Category 3 in a few days, causing dangerous surf and some flooding, but should dissipate in cooler waters:
