TTT2019: Day 4--Tokyo to Osaka

My Tokyo Westin breakfast was, as usual, fabulous:

The Shinkansen ride from Tokyo to Osaka was smooth, enjoyable, safe...a total reverse from my French experience on their bullet trains a couple of weeks ago:

A traditional bento with sake and beer.  Of course, anytime you train from Tokyo to Kansai, the highlight is Mount Fuji, if you can see it.  Blessedly, Fujisan was resplendent and majestic:

We arrived at the Shin-Osaka Station in three hours and caught the Midosuji subway line to Tennoji, above which is the Marriott Miyako Osaka.  I thought I had previously stayed here, but, no, it is only five years ago and one of the very best I've ever had the pleasure to experience.  57 stories high, with my room on the 42nd floor, with both sides of floor-to-ceiling glass.  This is half of the corner room view.  Later, the night scene from the other.

We ended the evening in the Executive Lounge, which is the best of any Marriott in the world, on par with some of the Starwoods, like the Sheraton Tower in Saigon and St Regis in Beijing, where they just send you to the Press Club for an assortment of appetizers and any drink in the bar, a famous place where secrets are shared.

Back to the room, the night view was spectacular:

 This was Day 3, and the only meal paid so far in Japan after I left Honolulu has been my Shinkansen bento.  The Osaka Marriott Miyake is the best hotel in the city, better than the Ritz Carleton.
