DAY 12: Bangkok Adventures

At my age and current wussy demeanor, this will not be like Indiana Jones.  First, the Sheraton Grand Sukhamvit, one the Luxury Collections.  According to the person who checked me in, this was my 19th stay there, not days, but number of times I checked in and out.

The view from our room overlooks the Asoke Skytrain Station.  This is one of the conveniences of staying at this hotel.

Went to The Library for our free drinks:

Then to Rossini's for a spectacular Italian dinner.  This must be the most elegant Italian restaurant we've ever experienced.  With Chianti and Thai beer, we indulged in lamb, foie gras and risotto, laced with truffles:

Chef Anna came by to say hi.  This will be the best meal we will have in Thailand on this trip.

Remarkably, the next morning we had our best breakfast on this trip:

Four courses with Prosecco and cappucchino.  All free.

We then caught the Skytrain back to our first hotel, the Marriott Marquis, for that is where my tailor Larry is located.  I would say 80% of the people we saw wore face masks.  The mass transit system here is excellent at a relatively low cost.

Stopped by Larry's to pick up the nine vests I had made.  These are my best yet.  They were efficient, but bargaining is also necessary to reduce their profit.

Then, took a tuk-tuk shuttle from the Marriott Marquis (where we will be staying tomorrow, as this is where a suitcase was stored when we left for Phuket) towards the Emporium shopping mall, where the Phrom Phong Station is one stop away from the Grand Sheraton.  Note the airport security system they use to check everyone entering.

Bought durian chips, mangosteen curls, jack fruit crackers and tamarind balls for my 15 Craigside tables.  My traveling partner bought about ten times more for her friends.

This is the shopping center that features an assortment of Japanese Wagyu Beef, caviars from Russia and a lot more.  Here, three types of Johnny Walker Blue Label.

Well, tomorrow will be our final whole day in Thailand.  I might not get a chance to post again until the JAL lounge in Narita, or perhaps when I return to Honolulu.
