
Cassia fistula: the national tree of Thailand (but Pearl’s yellow tree does not have pods)

Cassia surattensis: again, this one has pods
Cassia roxburgh: there is some pinkness to this tree.

Pearl’s yellow tree might not be a Cassia. (My blog of September provides details of The Pearl Foundation.)
One lead I have not followed is to check with the University of Hawaii, for the photo at the top was taken a few months ago just outside my office. Someone must have a record of what it is and how seedlings can be obtained. Another photo of Pearl's Yellow Tree could be:

The Dow Jones Industrials crashed 203 to 9509, reflecting world markets. Gold dropped $9/toz to $999 and crude oil rose to $70/barrel.

Nothing much has changed, as Super Typhoon Parma at 140 MPH is still beelining for North Luzon and Super Typhoon Melor is getting close to Guam. There are two storms in the East Pacific, but they don’t seem to be a threat.
The Padang earthquake (off Sumatra) could have a death toll exceeding 1000, while the Samoa quake is up to 150.
