In particular, Garrick Iwamuro, Golf Course System Administrator, has been very helpful in making the necessary arrangements. Jill Wagner of Future Forests Nursery has been growing these trees. We are not sure at this time when the planting ceremony will be held, as Garrick would like the saplings to be hardy enough and Jill still needs to ship them from Kona. Plus, the golf course is installing an irrigation system, so the scheduling will need to synchronize with their timetable.
These Gold Trees are now blooming in Hawaii. Here is one close by Hamilton Library on the Manoa Campus:

If you take a Sunday ride around Honolulu, you will see these trees along the various freeways, particularly in the vicinity of the airport. Waipahu is also an area of concentration. The brilliance could disappear by next weekend if the winds pick-up or there is a good rain.
There are, actually, about a half dozen other yellow trees in full color. One of them is the National Tree of Thailand:
These have thin, long pods. Interestingly enough, they don't grow in Bangkok. Here are a couple more:
Finally, a light yellow, a whole bank of these shower trees are growing up East-West Center Road from Holmes Hall to the former Medical School:
By the way, I recently re-visited the statue in Jindaiji (Tokyo) that remarkably looks like Pearl and found out that the creator was Yasuo Bussi. The staff is looking into who was the model:
