OUR DAY IN YOKOHAMA

Yesterday was our typical day in Japan:

  • a free breakfast
  • a trip somewhere
  • skip lunch, because breakfast is too filling
  • free light dinner at the club lounge with complimentary cocktails

Note that the food is free.  To the left a view of our hotel lobby.

The breakfast buffet is on par with the better ones in Japan.  Would normally cost $31 or so.

Here is how the restaurant is layed out, and at the bottom my gigantic meal:

We leave later today for Sendai, but spent a couple of hours getting our Japan Rail Pass and making our train reservations.  After that we caught a train to Yamashita Park, for the concierge indicated this might be a place with some Fall colors.  Yokohama is not noted to be a site for colorful trees.  And it was not.

Yamashita Park is located next to the cruise terminal, where docked was the Diamond Princess, which will become our home in a little more than a week:

Our hotel, in the basement, is surrounded by shopping malls.  Here, some large scallops:

Finally after a bath, my free dinner at the Sheraton Club Lounge:

A very relaxing day.  Later today a 3-train itinerary to Sendai, where our first stop will be late lunch at a Japanese wagyu beef restaurant.

Supposedly, Tropical Storm Fung-Wong will take a northerly track east of Taiwan and weaken:
