THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD: Cairo (Part 10, Section D)

A decade ago, Pearl and I were in purgatory, better known as the Sheraton Royal Gardens in Cairo.  In this hotel, which, amazingly enough, is still there, and while we were there, at capacity, Pearl and I essentially ate alone at their three fancy and large, really big, restaurants.  The following continues the serialization of Chapter 6 from SIMPLE SOLUTIONS for Humanity.  I've been been roundly criticize for blogs that are too long, so here is  quick one:

The Mystery Continues (8Sept2000)

 Hi Friends:

These are the latest developments. We learned that people in Egypt eat quite late, so we decided to go to all three restaurants beginning at 9PM. We first went to the Japanese (Inakaya) restaurant, and 15 diners almost immediately left when we appeared.  It was almost like, okay, the Takahashis are here, so you must leave...now. We only had  chuo toro sashimi and a sake, then went on to the Mexican restaurant (Senor Pico). An exquisite nachos with frozen margaritas. Again, a very lively Mariachi band, but no customers, except us. At 11PM we finished up at Trader Vic’s, and were the only ones there until two ladies showed up just before we left. Maybe there is hope, although I again went up to the front desk and asked (the same person who has continuously been there since we first checked in, how many days ago??) on details regarding transportation tomorrow morning to the airport, and his response was that they were still working on it.  Do you get a sense of disconnect?  Is this a dream????

 Aloha.
