About Donald Trump and the Iran War, not exactly a deal, but an agreement to spend the next 60 days in ceasefire, while negotiators argue about possible long-term peace, nuclear matters, money, Strait of Hormuz and so forth.
As I mentioned yesterday, there will be a signing of the memorandum of agreement on Friday in Geneva by Veep JD Vance and Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.- This event is being hosted by Pakistan, with key mediators like Qatar in attendance.
- Israel will not sign and is therefore not bound by the terms of the MoA. Thus, the war in Lebanon will be a particularly sensitive matter through the upcoming talks.
The Strait of Hormuz will not be completely open from Friday.- It will take a month or so for mine clearing operations.

The Trump administration blamed former President Barack Obama. Turns out that the darker blue-painted bottom now absorbs more heat, and maintaining a blue color in hot summer months could be a long term problem. Will scientists be able to kill the algae to restore a beautiful blue color by the Fourth of July?

I'm tempted to end my posting today, for there is enough stuff above, and maybe tomorrow go into Part 3b continuing my life in retirement, but I'll just spend time on one small thing, the books I wrote after I returned from my Indian Ocean/Norway trip of Part 3a.
- First, the three books I'm proud of, published before I retired.
- The yellow one to the left was not me as author, but a real textbook on renewable energy put together one semester by one of my classes in Technology & Society. The Department of Education adopted it for their high school classes because in the 1970s this was one of the first of its kind.
- I was one of the three co-authors for the middle one published just before I began working for Senator Spark Matsunaga in DC.
- I am credited with Andrew Trenka as a co-author for the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion textbook requested by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, but this too was mostly actually written by our staff at the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research.
So anyway, six years after doing almost nothing during my early retirement, I decided to bring together all I knew from nearly a quarter century of effort as a University of Hawaii faculty member in engineering on geothermal energy (my first project in 1973), marine algae raceway project in the mid-1970s and assorted green energy topics that captured my interest as a researcher for the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, which I helped form in 1974 after the First Energy Crisis in October of 1973. The result was SIMPLE SOLUTIONS for Planet Earth in August of 2007.
I then thought, why don't I write a book on what I don't know. The result was SIMPLE SOLUTIONS for Humanity in February of 2008.- From Amazon.com:

My third retirement book was SIMPLE SOLUTION ESSAYS in September of 2010.- This was a compilation of around 70 or so of my articles for the Huffington Post. I ended up writing a few more than a hundred of them and "retired" a long time ago.
- My wife had died in 2009, and I wanted to give a gold tree sapling and a new book for her celebration of life party in Hilo.
