Haven't said much about the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel. In short, good location, but disappointing, considering the $750/night price. The hotel staffing is also deficient, except that the restaurant people are nice and efficient. I wouldn't stay here again. Lobby and our view.
For dinner Saturday night we went to Mundo, a buffet, which had a wide assortment of stations. Here are just a few.
That was my first course. For Sunday breakfast we went back to Mundo, which had, of course, a similar assortment of dishes.
Our hotel is to the right, and that view we saw yesterday is that arena below.
After a glance at the first World Cup game between Qatar and Ecuador...which Ecuador won 2-0...for dinner we went up to the 50th Floor (note that this is 20 stories higher than the tallest building in Hawaii) to Dasha.
Well, we had breakfast at Mundo's again, and will soon depart for the Regent Seven Seas Explorer.

Dasha dinner sounds incredibly rich, your palate must have been exhausted. SS for humanity came in the mail, I skimmed through the first few pages and look forward to completing it after BK1. Thoughts on chapter one-black energy:
I wasn't sure if I would like to large pages, but it does allow a lot of information to be presented at once, which is nice. I learned about coal, I had no idea that Uncle Sam was Uncle Saud of coal. In 2022, the Chinese Coal machine echoes what is to come in the developing world. A useful takeaways from the chapter is the aggregation of $/oil (barrel and gallons) data. For a relatively veiled industry with a veiled strategy, the price action over the last 20 (40 really) years speaks volumes. Which I think leads to 2 thoughts:
(1) There are a lot of people in the U.S. that care, but there are more people that are uneducated and more concerned about other "urgent" things. In the same way the Hermit King keeps his people lacking of basic needs to avoid higher level thinking, there is a mass distraction (and loss of hope) plaguing climate action on the national level. (2) The carbon-offset/carbon-tax system needs an overhaul.
